MARGAO: An imposter posing as a policeman duped a Chinchinim resident of cash in case of alleged extortion registered at the Margao police station on Thursday.
Fifty-two-year-old Esty Velho, hailing from Chinchinim complained that a person claiming to be a policeman approached him and told the victim that he has serious crime charges against him. He then asked the victim to come along with him in his car. The accused then took Esty from Margao to the Osia complex and forced him to withdraw cash from the ATM.
The victim had come to Margao to purchase geyser.
The victim in his complaint stated that the he first withdrew Rs 10,000 and later the accused asked him to withdraw another Rs 10,000. The accused then asked the victim to give him Rs 5,000 and returned Rs 400 to the victim to travel back home.
