PONDA: PWD Minister Deepak Pauskar on Monday said the roads dug for incomplete sewerage works in Goa are causing hardship to Goans and blamed his predecessor Sudin Dhavalikar for the mess.
He said, “Rs 1800 crore were spent in Goa on sewerage, but at many places the sewerage lines are complete, but there is no sign of treatment plant. Henceforth the government policy is not to go for sewerage work unless the sewerage plant is constructed first. There is a scheme for buying land for STP through sewerage corporation, hence plant should be set up first.”

He said except Navelim and at a few places, majority of sewerage treatment plants are not completed in Goa.
He was speaking after handover of letter of appointment to contract workers under PWD Labour Supply Society at a function at Opa treatment plant at Khandepar in presence of Co-operation Minister Govind Gaude, Shiroda MLA Subash Shirodkar, PCE Parsekar and government officials.
He said, “Network is laid at Undir and Porvorim, but there are no treatment plants. Due to lack of planning by former PWD Minister Dhavalikar, roads are dug and people are suffering in Goa.”
