India on Friday accused Pakistan of using excessive and “ruthless” force against peaceful protesters in Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK), alleging that more than 40 civilians have been killed and several others seriously injured during the ongoing crackdown.
In a strongly worded statement, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) described the situation as deeply concerning and urged the international community to order an independent investigation into the reported killings. It also called for those responsible to be held accountable.

MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said the Pakistani establishment’s actions reflected its “absolute disdain” for the people of PoJK. He further criticised remarks attributed to Pakistan’s Defence Minister, who reportedly described the protesters as “enemies”, saying the statement exposed Islamabad’s attitude towards civilians demanding their rights.
India maintained that the reported use of force against demonstrators raises serious human rights concerns and called on the global community to closely monitor the situation. New Delhi reiterated its demand for transparency, accountability and an impartial inquiry into the alleged killings and injuries in PoJK.
