Install signboards on NH 17: Dy CM

PERNEM: Deputy Chief Minister Manohar (Babu) Ajgaonkar has directed the company officials and contractor who have undertaken the work of highway expansion to install sign boards at every dangerous point on the NH 17.

The Dy CM had convened a meeting taking cognizance of the concern raised by the people and daily commuters which was attended by Chief Engineer Gupta, highway contractor Shrinivas Venu, Pernem Municipal Chairperson Usha Nagvekar and sarpanchas of Chandel and other villages.

During the meeting, Ajgaonkar directed to install necessary signboards, diversion boards, reflectors and other required boards at dangerous locations especially accident prone zones, diversion points and points where water logging take place .

The expansion of National Highway 17 commenced in 2018 and since then several people have lost their loved ones while many have sustained injuries due to the accidents that have occurred because of the pathetic condition and absence of sign boards of diversion, no entry, one way and reflectors.

Due to the ongoing highway work, the condition of service roads have turned pathetic and posing danger to the commuters especially the motorists.
