International client counselling contest inaugurated

Justice Nelson A Britto, Judge, High Court of Bombay, inaugurated the Western and Central region national rounds of Louis M Brown International Client Counseling competition recently at V M Salgaocar College of Law.
Justice Britto in his inaugural address spoke about the need to develop this new skill by lawyers and elaborated on the basic essentials of the client-lawyer interaction like the need to provide the client basic information as to the cost involved, the approximate time duration, nature of relief that could be sought, etc.
Prof Nomita Agarwal said that Louis M Brown International Client Counseling has become an important international level competition for law students and stressed on the need to establish a similar international level competition in India named after a well-known judge, jurist or philanthropist.
Ten teams from the central and western region are in the fray to participate at the national rounds for the selection of a team to represent India which will be held at Ram Manohar Lohia National Law University, Lucknow on February 22 and 23.
The international rounds of the competition will be at Las Vegas, USA during the first week of April.
