International shooter Sambhaji Patil dies in Palghar road accident

International shooter Sambhaji Shivaji Patil (27) lost his life in a tragic road accident in Maharashtra’s Palghar district while travelling from Pune to Gujarat, police officials confirmed on Tuesday. The incident took place on the Mumbai–Ahmedabad National Highway when the vehicle he was travelling in collided with a truck.

According to preliminary information, a speeding Toyota Fortuner rammed into the rear of a truck, causing a severe impact that completely mangled the SUV. Patil sustained critical injuries in the crash and was declared dead at the scene by emergency responders. The sudden death of the young shooter has shocked the sporting community, where he was regarded as a promising talent representing India at international competitions.

Another passenger in the vehicle, identified as 22-year-old Yash Prashant Choudhary, suffered serious injuries in the accident. He was immediately shifted to a nearby hospital, where doctors are currently treating him. Officials said his condition remains critical.

Police have registered a case and launched an investigation to determine the exact circumstances that led to the accident. Authorities are examining factors such as vehicle speed, driver control, and possible negligence.
