After actor Rajpal Yadav surrendered at Tihar Jail following his conviction in a cheque-bounce case, fellow actor Sonu Sood publicly extended support by offering him a role in one of his upcoming films along with a small signing amount. Sood shared the message on social media, stating that the payment was meant to provide dignity and encouragement rather than charity.
In his note, Sood described Rajpal Yadav as a talented performer who has contributed significantly to the film industry over the years. He urged producers, directors, and colleagues to stand together and support the actor during what he called a difficult phase, emphasising that no artist should feel isolated in challenging times.
The development comes after the Delhi High Court refused to withdraw its earlier order directing Yadav to surrender before jail authorities. The court expressed strong disapproval over his delay in complying with instructions and rejected a plea seeking more time to arrange funds to settle the financial dispute.
Justice Swarana Kanta Sharma observed that the law rewards compliance and not disregard for court orders, noting that granting further relief could set a wrong precedent. Following the ruling, Yadav surrendered and began serving his sentence.
