PANJIM: The three-member committee constituted by the State government to inquire into the issue of interrupted oxygen supply in the Goa Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), Bambolim, is yet to submit its report.
Following deaths of patients in the GMC due to oxygen shortage, the government on May 13 constituted the committee under Director of IIT Dr B K Mishra and comprising former GMC Dean Dr V N Jindal as member and Secretary (Urban Development) Tariq Thomas as member and convenor of the committee.

The committee was asked to submit its report within three days. But almost a month later the committee is yet to submit its report.
When asked, official sources said that the report could not be submitted as two committee members were under home isolation after their family members tested positive for COVID-19.
The committee had started work by inspecting the arrangements made for oxygen supply in the premier government institution, the source said, adding that the report will be submitted once the members recover.
Meanwhile, Thomas was replaced by Secretary (Revenue) and member secretary of State Executive Committee (SEC) Sanjay Kumar as member and convenor of the committee.
The committee was asked to ascertain adequacy of the oxygen supply to the GMC; to ascertain efficiency of the oxygen supply chain; to examine the process of administration of oxygen at GMC and to give recommendations for its improvement and to recommend improvement in the complete chain of oxygen delivery at the GMC.
