PANJIM: Porvorim Police on Thursday busted an IPL betting racket and arrested four persons for accepting bets on the ongoing matches from Porvorim.
According to Porvorim Police the four accused — Rishi Bhayana (40), Niraj Gupta (30), Suresh Kumar Agarwal (55) and Pawan Kumar Agarwal (60) all natives of Uttar Pradesh were accepting bets in a stared hotel in Porvorim, in two different rooms. Porvorim PI Jivba Dalvi said that the four accused from Lucknow were on radar of police since few days. After specific information and confirmation, we laid a trap and searched the hotel with due permission. He said that after raiding the place, police seized the materials related to betting and cash of Rs 6.5 lakh.
The raid was supervised by DySP Nelson Albuquerque.
