IPL bookies get bail

The Judicial Magistrate First Class (JMFC) at Mapusa on Saturday released the six arrested bookies from Mumbai on conditional bail.

PANJIM: The Judicial Magistrate First Class (JMFC) at Mapusa on Saturday released the six arrested bookies from Mumbai on conditional bail.

The Mumbai police, who are working in close coordination with the Goa police, have taken custody of one of them. Paresh Asarpota, Ketan Chawda, Ritesh Patel, Amit Papat, Sandeep Asarpota and Nikunj Lalan were arrested from a rented villa at Candolim, a week ago, for allegedly accepting bets connected to the recently concluded edition of IPL from various people on phones.

The Calangute police are decoding certain information from the seized articles like mobile phones, laptops and registers. Certain calls were traced to Mumbai bringing the Mumbai police into the probe.
