PANJIM: The Goa Coastal Zone Management Authority (GCZMA) has directed Imagine Panaji Smart City Development Ltd (IPSCDL) to undertake rapid Environment Impact Assessment (EIA) study for undertaking repair and restoration of Dona Paula view point and its related works.
The Imagine Panaji Smart City Development Ltd had approached The Goa Coastal Zone Management Authority in October 2018 seeking permission for repair and renovation of Dona Paula view point, pedestrianisation of the approach road and further upgradation of surrounding areas.
Following the site inspection conducted by the expert members, the authority, during its meeting held last month, decided to approve the repair and restoration proposal; however has asked to submit rapid Environment Impact Assessment study as recommended by the expert members.
The authority has also laid down certain conditions, wherein the project proponent is directed not to undertake extension of jetty.
It has also said that the widening of the walkway piers alignment shall be in line with the earlier position only.
