A debate titled ‘Is the PUB Culture ruining Goan youth?’ hosted by Juino De Souza will be telecast on Wednesday, February 18 at 9 pm on HCN Channel and will feature, Minister for Power & Environment, Aleixo Sequeira, Ex-Chief Minister & Leader of Opposition, Manohar Parrikar, Chairperson, Goa State Women’s Commission, Dr (Mrs) Pramod Salgaocar, Branch Manager, AVIVA Life Insurance, Rayan Fernandes and Faculty, Institute of Hotel Management, Porvorim, Suvartha Heremath.
The following among other issues will be debated: The Mangalore Pub incident and whether it was proper for Sri Ram Sene Activists to beat-up women and whether is it proper for women to indecently dress, drink, smoke and indulge in bad behaviour inside pubs?
Are too many pubs and casinos in Goa the cause for high drop out rate and increase in crime rate? Should government enact a law to regulate and impose age restriction and dress code when entering pubs? Is it a bad thing to improve the morals of a society through moral policing and through non-punitive social actions? Do we need to strengthen the family value system to inculcate channels of ‘culture’ and ‘moral values’ in youngsters?
