PANJIM: With the aim of improving the internet connectivity in Goa, the new Minister for Information Technology (IT) Rohan Khaunte has announced that the government will soon take up the initiative of ‘Fiber to Home’ scheme for connecting every household in the state to the internet through optical fiber network. The Minister also spoke about boosting the IT connectivity for the benefit of the IT sector too and addressing the grievances of the IT entrepreneurs and companies in the State.
Khaunte, who was the IT Minister in the past too pointed out that Fiber cable network, had been laid till the panchayat building in every village through Goa BroadBand Network (GBBN).

“The IT Department is looking into the feasibility of providing last mile connectivity to every household, urban as well as rural by extending this fiber. Using this connectivity content will be accessible through mobile, computer, TV etc and the system can be even used by Cable operators and other stakeholders to deliver their content,” said Khaunte.
“The government will try to deliver internet connectivity to the people in the State in a seamless manner as water and power connectivity,” he added.
Khaunte said the number of towers will also increase.
