AAP volunteers arrested sang patriotic songs as they spent half the night under arrest

AGACAIM:  Chants of ‘hum honge kamyab’ or we shall overcome rang the air in the police station as spirited AAP members sat on a long carpet under detention and arrest and sang patriotic songs. They were left at 1.30 in the morning

In all 47 protestors including State convenor Rahul Mhambre, vice presidents Venzy Viegas and Pratima Coutinho, Valmiki Naik, Sandesh Talekar, Cecille Rodrigues and others were detained by the police after they attempted to march to the Chief Minister’s official residence to demand his resignation following allegations of corruption by former Goa Governor Satya Pal Malik.

The police put them in vans and took them to the Agacaim police station.

Coutinho said that the police harassed them at the police station demanding that the protestors should give an undertaking that they will not indulge in any protestors and morchas. After the volunteers refused to give undertaking the police told them that they will be booked under section 353 and other non-bailable IPC sections.

At the police station, the protestors sang patriotic songs and slept on the carpet till the time police released them at around 1.30 in the morning.
