PANJIM: The Joint Electricity Regulatory Commission (JERC) has directed the Electricity Department to submit an action plan along with timelines for the preparation of a systematic manpower study report.
JERC in its latest order said that this report should reach within a period of two months. This is required in a bid to analyse the employee strength and reduce manpower and other costs.
Speaking to Herald, Power Minister, Pandurang Madkaikar said, “The department will adhere with the JERC and submit detailed report within a period of two months. It is a routine thing and once the report is sent it will be analysed by them and suggestions will be given to the department.”
Sources revealed that Electricity Department had failed to comply with the JERC commission since 2012.
JERC in the past had pointed out that Electricity Department was over employed and the costs incurred were high. With the submission of this report the department shall recognise the main areas in which there is excess staff or how costs can be reduced for which a new plan shall be worked upon.
