PANJIM: GPCC President John Fernandes is expected to meet Union Minister for Home Affairs Sushil Kumar Shinde in New Delhi in Tuesday requesting him to ensure there is no political interference in the functioning of Goa Police.
Speaking with Herald over the phone from Delhi, Fernandes said he will request MHA to direct Goa Police Chief T N Mohan to desist from political pressure.
“…so that police act properly without political pressure. Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar is applying doctrine of unequal law… If he continues the Salazar rule, I will then demand for Presidential Rule in Goa,” he said reacting to complaints against MLAs Aleixo Reginaldo Lourenco and Vijai Sardessai for playing music beyond permissible time.
Fernandes alleged Parrikar ignored the Carnival entertainment program in MLA Avertano Furtado’s constituency which went on till 2.30am, beyond the permissible time limit of 12 am. He has condemned the bias shown by government.
“Such an attitude of the government is highly objectionable. The CM tried to frame the two MLAs because of the assembly session…” he said.
