PERNEM: A joint meeting was held to discuss the pre-monsoon measures that need to be taken by different departments in Mandrem Constituency. The meeting was conveyed by Pernem Deputy Collector Deepak Vaigankar in presence of Mandrem MLA Jit Arolkar and Mamlatdar Anant Malik.
The meeting was attended by government officials of departments including Pernem Fire Station in-charge Namdev Parwar, Block Development Officer Manohar Parwar, officials of PWD road and water section, WRD, Electricity department, Forest department, heads of panchayats and others.

During this meeting, the departments including Electricity, Fire and Emergency and Forest Departments were asked to take necessary measures and directed to remain vigil. The Electricity Department was directed to clear the branches of trees coming on electricity lines while PWD was directed to repair the damaged road wherever required for smooth movement of traffic. MLA Arolkar said the road damaged due to underground cabling will be taken up by the concerned contractor.
Another issue which the panch members of almost all the panchayats in Mandrem Constituency raised was water shortage. Ward member of Parsem village said that people in the village do not receive water for days and the department has failed to streamline the water supply despite assuring to do so.
Mandrem sarpanch demanded regular water supply while Morjim Panchayat said that providing water even on alternate days, at least for two hours, will be enough to give much relief to the villagers.
MLA Arolkar said that a disaster management committee will be formed for Mandrem, which will also include officials of different departments who will conduct a survey and inspect different locations which are likely to get affected or witness flooding and take necessary measures.
