A joint inspection on board the stranded vessel ‘MV River Princess’ was conducted by the Tourism Department, the contractor ‘Arihant’ and Calangute Police on Thursday morning.
The inspection team led by Deputy Director of Tourism Parsekar, Arihant representative and Calangute Police led by PSI Mahesh Kerkar were however unable to carry out a detailed survey, as the vessel was full of water.
Speaking to Herald, Convenor of River Princess Hatao Manch Fermino Fernandes expressed displeasure over the working of the State government, especially on the urgent removal of the stranded vessel.
“The site survey onboard the vessel should have been carried out way back and not now when things were intact onboard the vessel,” said Fernandes.
“It is pointless in carrying out such site inspection or surveys at this point of time. What is however important is the work order for the contractor ‘Arihant’ to go ahead with the work while other licensing formalities can be carried out simultaneously,” he stated.
