HERALD REPORTER
PANJIM, FEB 23
The state government is set to conduct a joint inspection of M V River Princess before the actual work of cutting of the ship is started. The joint inspection as well panchanama of the ship will be conducted on Thursday to avoid any allegation of theft and pilferage, said a source in the Tourism Department.
The Director of Tourism Swapnil Naik has already dashed a letter to Superintendent of Police (SP), North Goa seeking co-operation of the Police Department in this exercise.
The whole inspection will be documented in the form of photographs and videography. M/s Drishti Special Response Services Ltd has been asked to make necessary arrangement including boats, ladders for boarding the vessel, and lifeguard support.
Already two police complaints have been lodged at Calangute Police Station complaining that some objects from the grounded vessel has gone missing.
The department has no records to vouch to if anything from the vessel is missing as no panchanama and inventory was taken when the vessel went aground in 2000.
