PANJIM: In a twist to the Louis Berger corruption case, the High Court Judge hearing the appeal against the anticipatory bail granted to Digambar Kamat has recused himself from hearing the appeal.
With Judge K L Wadane recusing from the matter, Justice C V Bhadang will hear the plea on Thursday.
The prosecution had already completed arguments before the single bench in three sessions while the defence was scheduled to present its final arguments on Tuesday.
Meanwhile, the special court rejected Kamat’s application that sought to direct CB to submit a copy of the chargesheet to him. CB contested the application arguing that the 482-page report has only identified him as suspect as his custodial interrogation is awaited. The sitting MLA is expected to challenge the order in the High Court.
In another development, the special court has released alleged hawala operator Raichand Soni’s passport, which was deposited with it when he was released on bail. The release of the passport is on condition that he deposits an additional Rs 10 lakh surety to the court along with copies of documents pertaining to his properties in the State.
With CB filing a chargesheet in the case against seven persons on Monday, former JICA project director Anand Wachasundar, submitted a fresh application before the lower court on Tuesday seeking bail.
