MARGAO: Raia locals have demanded that the land owner be compensated before starting the work of constructing a kabrastan near Sonsoddo.
The residents of Raia and the land owner Marcelino Fernandes met the MMC CO Yashwant Tawde and complained that around 16091 sqmts of land was acquired in 2010 but Fernandes was yet to receive the compensation. They demanded that the work be started only after paying the compensation amount to Fernandes. Tawde said, “The work of removing the mud will start on Wednesday and I have written a letter to the PWD to start the same”.
However, the CO informed that the compensation payment is a subject of the Dy Collector and added that he would refer the matter to the concerned authority. Piedade Noronha said, “We are not against the kabrastan but all we want is the rightful compensation to the land loser”.
