PANJIM: Kala Academy is to get a major facelift, Art and Culture Minister Govind Gaude said on Monday.
Speaking to the media at Kala Academy, Gaude said the department has proposed an auditorium and library to the Academy.
The detailed project report will be ready in the next two months.
The Art and Culture Minister said that the issue of extra land for the auditorium will be resolved soon.
“We are already in talks with Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar for acquiring additional land which is available next to Kala Academy,” he said.
He said that an institution like Kala Academy should not be used only to host programmes and festivals, “but it is our endeavour to produce good quality artistes from there”.
He said that in a year’s time visible changes will be seen in the Art and Culture Department and especially in Kala Academy.
