PONDA: The locals of Ponda under banner of Goa Road Safety Forum (GRSF) have threatened a come out on the streets if the authorities fail to take action against bus drivers over unauthorised halts resulting in traffic congestion.
The Locals complained to Deputy Collector Navnath Naik and to Ponda Traffic Police office and brought to the notice of these authorities the bus drivers were violating traffic rules by halting buses at unauthorised places causing great hardships to the motorist resulting in traffic jams during rush hour,
On behalf of GRSF’s Dileep Naik, Pramodh Sawant and other locals discussed the issue with Deputy Collector and with Traffic PI office at Farmagudi.
They complained to Traffic PI Rams Asre on the traffic congestion problem due to frequent unauthorised halts by private passenger buses at places such as Dada Vaidya Chowk, Market, Tisk Ponda Junction towards Kavlem and at many places which has led to traffic congestion.
The locals also brought to the notice of officials and demanded action against erring drivers of buses proceeding towards Kavlem for not stopping stop at the designated bus shelter in front of HDFC Bank but instead wait for passengers at unauthorised place at Tisk Ponda Junction.
Deputy Collector as well Traffic PI assured to take action from October 31 against bus drivers and traffic violators.
