VASCO: Kala Bhavan in Sancoale-Upasnagar will be operational by the first half of 2020 even as the finishing and services related works are ongoing in full swing.
Speaking to Herald, Cortalim MLA Alina Saldanha said the internal work of the Kala Bhavan is ongoing in full swing and said a meeting was held with the contractor and other concerned people regarding the project.
She further said that along with Art and Culture minister Govind Gaude and other officials they will hold a joint inspection followed by a meeting to discuss and review the progress of the renovation work. Saldanha also opined that many local artists will get a platform via Kala Bhavan to stage their talent and will also get an opportunity to learn. “I have been assured by the contractor that the project renovation will be completed within the given time frame and the project will be operational and open for the people by first half of 2020,” she said.
Later when contacted, a official undertaking the internal renovation work said, at present finishing and services related works are in progress which includes air conditioning, fire Safety, CCTV, electrical connection work from building, flooring and false ceiling etc.
When asked when the project is likely to be completed, the Official said, “the deadline of first half of 2020 has been given to us but we expect the work to be complete a bit early,” he added.
It may be recalled that Cortalim in first week of July had a joint inspection of the Kala Bhavan along with the GSIDC contractor, Sancoale Panchayat members and officials from GSIDC.
