Kamat demits office as GU Registrar

PANJIM: Outgoing Goa University (GU) Registrar Vijayendra Kamat handed over the charge to the Dean of Social Sciences Shyam Bhat a day after completing his tenure on Monday.

PANJIM: Outgoing Goa University (GU) Registrar Vijayendra Kamat handed over the charge to the Dean of Social Sciences Shyam Bhat a day after completing his tenure on Monday. Bhat will hold the post until formalities to officially appoint new Registrar Y V Ramana Reddy is complete. 
After laying down his office as Registrar, Kamat will continue as Professor in the Department of Chemistry at GU till his superannuation in August 2017. 
“I had the most eventful tenure packed with a variety of enriching and unique experiences. I am also happy to admit that unstinted support enabled me to contribute in a substantial way toward the academic and administrative development of our University during the last five years,” he said speaking to Herald. 
He also expressed great satisfaction that the National Institutional Ranking Framework established by Ministry of Human Resources Development (MHRD) ranked GU as 20th best university in the country at the nationwide results demits on April 4, 2016. 
Reddy, who was on the priority for the Registrar post had his name finalized by the Chancellor and Goa Governor Dr Mridula Sinha on Monday. The university’s executive council had recommended him as Kamat’s successor.
