MARGAO: The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Sunday said Margao MLA and Opposition Leader Digambar Kamat’s thought of suggesting to his party high command to have an alliance with Goa Forward Party, MGP and NCP portrays his lack of confidence in the Congress.
AAP said such a move also indicates his secret understanding with the BJP as the Goa Forward Party and MGP are already part of the NDA while the lone NCP MLA is openly supporting the BJP in Goa.
In a press statement issued here, AAP leader Ramiro Mascarenhas said it was natural that Kamat did not think of other Opposition parties including AAP as he knows that AAP will not fall prey to BJP’s manipulation of other parties.
Stating that the Leader of Opposition was all the time offering only suggestions to the government, Mascarenhas said Kamat’s job was to go on the offensive as the misrule of BJP Government in Goa was taking a toll on the health of Goans.
“He (Kamat) is quiet on the attempts by Health Minister Vishwajit Rane to privatise the South Goa District Hospital. There is no demand for investigation into the labour scam in Goa, illegal mining activity and illegal transportation of mining ore. Is giving only suggestions, the job of the Leader of Opposition,” Mascarenhas asked.
Meanwhile, AAP leader Sidharth Karapurkar said Digambar Kamat’s utterances about alliances with NDA partners show that all were having an understanding with Modi and Shah to bring BJP back to power in 2022 in Goa.
He said, “AAP will fight BJP and its hidden allies with the support of the people. AAP had delivered on the basics and won the trust of the people of Delhi who brought Kejriwal back into power as they saw a future for their children. Goa was going through a crisis with no one left to speak for the people.”
