NEW DELHI: The Supreme Court hearing on cancellation of the
anticipatory bail to former Goa Chief Minister Digambar Kamat remained
inconclusive on Wednesday and it would be taken up further on March 3.
Senior advocate Kapil Sibal, representing Kamat, was on his
legs and argued for just ten minutes when the Bench of Justices J Chelameswar
and Abhay Sapre rose for the day.
He was countering the police demand for his custodial
interrogation in the alleged bribe taken in the contract of the multi-billion
dollar water and sewerage project awarded to the US-based Louis Berger
consultancy firm.
The case was taken up at 2 PM and Additional Solicitor
General Tushar Mehta concluded his arguments on behalf of Police only at 3.50
pm, leaving hardly any time for Sibal to argue. Sibal appeared with senior advocate
S G Dessai.
