PONDA: Ponda Police on Monday arrested a 23-year-old labourer from Ankola-Karwar on charges of raping a 22-year-old married woman at Usgao.
According to Ponda Police, the accused Ganesh Gavda and the victim were neighbours at Usgao.
The victim, who is originally from Sawantwadi, in her complaint told Ponda Police that the accused allegedly raped her for the last 8 months and also threatened to kill her.
Police further stated that the woman was staying with her husband and a 3-year-daughter. The woman is learnt to be pregnant.
Ponda Police registered the case under Section 506 (II) for threatening and Section 376 (rape). PSI Satish Gavde is investigating the case.
