Ideas of all 10 finalists may be converted into factories and business houses

MARGAO: This innovative business idea for students of the state may finally help bring out a businessmen or industrialist in them as the first “Kaun Banega Udyogpati” contest is set for a grand finale on January 4 at the Ravindra Bhavan, Margao.
A total of 10 contestants will vie for the title and a cash award of Rs one lakh. But, more importantly, the organisers, Verna Industries Association and the Centre for Incubation and Business Acceleration (CIBA) are looking forward to spot the hidden talent amongst the last 10 contestants and help their ideas grow into factories and business houses.
Briefing the media, Verna Industries Association President Prashant Shinde said this is for the first time that the industry and academia have come together to support innovative entrepreneurship in Goa on such a grand scale. “Besides, the cash award, the Kaun Banega Udyogpati winner will receive incubation space at Centre for Incubation and Business Acceleration for a period of one year to commercialise his or her idea. All the 10 finalists will also be virtually supported by CIBA to commercialise their ideas. The contest is scheduled as an annual affair to be continued and will provide the much needed impetus to innovative business ideas amongst Goan youth”, he said, adding that the second edition of the contest will be open for students as well as the general public.
“This contest aims to support the creative talent of the Goan youth and provide support to convert the innovative business idea into a commercial business opportunity. We had launched the contest in August 2013 evoking response from more than 500 students with their innovative ideas covering over more than 200 institutions, including professional colleges, Arts and Science colleges, ITIs and higher secondary schools”, Shinde added.
