Addressing a gathering after hoisting the national tri-colour on Independence Day at Ponda, Dhavalikar informed that the new Khandepar bridge project would be started next month as the tendering process is nearing completion.
“Work on this new bridge will be completed within a year to avoid hardship faced by commuters, who travel along the old narrow bridge,” he said.
Dhavlikar also mentioned that the sewage project for Ponda will be undertaken shortly as all financial approvals have been granted by the government and the tendering work will begin in December.
He added that the Rs 150 crore traffic management project would start in Ponda in March 2015. “At present, the survey work and project report is in progress,” said Dhavalikar.
Others present on the occasion included Ponda MLA Lavoo Mamledar, freedom fighter and former MLA Rohidas Naik, government officials, citizens and students.
