PANJIM: Congress’ Porvorim Block president and locals have filed a complaint before the Crime Branch of Goa Police, accusing former revenue minister Rohan Khaunte of filling of low lying fields in Socorro and Pomburpa villages.
Block President Shankar Phadte said that the former minister, using government machinery, illegally constructed a 5 metres wide road through the fields of the villagers to benefit a well known sportsperson from outside the State.
In their complaint which is also addressed to the Chief Minister and the North Goa District Collector apart from the Crime Branch SP, the complainants who include the affected farmers have stated, “It has been noticed that the Water Resources Department has constructed illegal roads in the fields belonging to the Comunidade of Serula situated in Socorro”
The complaints have further informed that the fields are owned by the Comunidade of Serula and the Comunidade of Pomburpa. “However, there is no land acquisition done nor any consent is obtained from the owners of the land. The department has also not obtained the NOC from the tenants of the fields and has thereby committed a criminal trespass causing destruction of land use,” the complaint reads as.
Stating that Khaunte was in control and superintendence of the Comunidade of Serula and Comunidade of Pomburpa, the complainants alleges, “Rohan Khaunte has acted dishonestly and fraudulently to misappropriate the Comunidade property.”
