Khaunte opposes 5-star hotel

PANJIM: Independent MLA Rohan Khaunte has opposed the proposed five-star hotel with marina, and yacht club under public private partnership model.

“In the name of tourism and development, government is on voyage to sell Goa,” Khaunte alleged. Expressing fear that Porvorim constituency may outgrow in the days to come, the MLA said, “Under Investment Promotion Board, a five-star hotel project is already approved next to High Court, now another five-star hotel with marina at Britonna, then little ahead you have a mall and then a eco-tourism resort. Porvorim will become saturated with all this.”
Khaunte said that the constituents will not allow a marina in the area. “At any cost we are not going to allow the marina and five star projects to take place. We won’t allow more haphazard planning,” he said.
