CANACONA: Canacona police in the wee hours of Sunday intercepted a Kolhapur native near Palolem beach with suspected charas. The accused is arrested under Sections 20(b) (ii) and 22(a) of NDPS Act.
Canacona PI Tukaram Chavan said that they had received specific information from their informers that the accused would be coming near a popular high-end resort at Palolem with narcotic substances.
PI Chavan added that a police team laid a trap for the person and intercepted a youth who later was identified as Nitin Patil (24), a native of Kalyanpur taluka, Changad District of Kolhapur and temporarily staying in a rented premise at Char Rasta. On search, the youth was found to be in illegal possession of 91.200 grams substance suspected to be charas and is worth around Rs 48,000 in the international drug market.
