PERNEM: The Korgao gram sabha was taken over by heated discussions over the problem of water scarcity, which plagues the village throughout the year. The villagers pointed out that the water drawn from bore wells was polluted and cannot be consumed.
The sabha also suggested that the panchayat levy business tax on banks and newly-opened shops, hotels and bars, to increase the revenue of the panchayat. Other issues like asphalting of the road from Virangoli to Manshi Wada, and underground cabling to address the frequent power cuts in the village were also brought up. Local Vinita Mandrekar proposed a resolution not to allow the husbands of female panchas to speak on their behalf.
