KR trains back on track

Konkan Railway has finally restored its section between Ratnagiri and Adavali on Tuesday, but the KRC suffered an estimated loss of over Rs 25 crore due to cancellation of trains during the last 10 days.
KRC Sr Public Relations Manager, Baban Ghatge told Herald that the KRC has faced losses to the tune of Rs 2.5 crore per day due to train cancellation. “Calculate the losses for the last 10 days and the amount is around Rs 20-25 crore”, Ghatge said.
That’s not all. Ghatge said the KRC spent a whopping Rs 3.25 crore towards the restoration of the Ratnagiri-Adavali section. “The KRC had deployed around 21 excavators, three JCBs, 10 dumpers, two bulldozers, eight BRN Wagons, besides 500 labourers, who worked 24×7 to restore the section”, he added.
“With all the hard work and dedication of the officers and staff, Konkan Railway has been able to restore its section between Ratnagiri and Adavali with effect from August 3”, Ghatge added.
He said despite the disruptions in the train services between Ratnagiri and Adavali and the restoration work undertaken on war footing, the Konkan Railway has done its level best to facilitate the journey of its esteemed passengers by hiring about 30 MSRTC buses between Ratnagiri and Adavali for their transshipment between these sections. “We even made sure that the passengers were provided with snacks and Bisleri water continuously over the last 10 days with human approach. Upto now, 55,000 passengers were transshipped with around 1000 buses making trips between Ratnagiri and Adavali”, Ghatge added.
