BELGAUM: The Karnataka unit of the BJP has taken up the issue of the recent rape of a three-year-old schoolgirl in Bangalore and has demanded the immediate dismissal of Karnataka Home Minister K J George.
Making this demand at a news conference here in Belgaum, BJP state president Prahlad Joshi has also emphasized that the upcoming demand from certain BJP leaders in the region will not be supported by the BJP as the party stands for a united Karnataka.
“Under the Congress rule, law and order in the state has deteriorated and there is chaos in the Congress-led government in the state,” said Joshi.
“Recently a devoted IAS officer Rashmi was assaulted and a notice was slapped at her questioning her why she had to go to the media. While there is no clear breakthrough in the child rape case despite two arrests. Confusion prevails in the state Congress-led government which has lost all its senses. Looking at the deteriorating situation in the state, inefficiency of Home Minister K J George has been proved, hence we demand his immediate sacking in the interest of the state,” stated Joshi.
He also demanded for a declaration from the state government towards making Belgaum a permanent place for winter session of the State Legislature like Nagpur in Maharashtra.
“In case our demands are not met, prominent BJP leaders in Karnataka including the elected representatives will call for an agitation,” Joshi warned.
He also demanded for declaration of the date of the forthcoming winter session of the State Legislature which is slated to be held in Belgaum shortly.
BJP MP Suresh Angadi, MLA Sanjay Patil and prominent leaders too voiced their demands for the removal of Home Minister K J George.
