MARGAO: The new Chairman of the Kadamba Transport Corporation Limited (KTCL) Ulhas Tuenkar has promised to review the proposed renovation of the Margao KTC bus stand and set up a better bus stand at Navelim as one of his top priorities during his tenure.
Tuenkar, also the Navelim MLA spoke about how people of Salcete and his constituency use the Margao bus stand and that it has been in need of a revamp for years now. On that note he added that Navelim also needs a proper bus stand.
He said he has already spoken to the Chief Minister and plans to speak to the Transport Minister as well, given that the Corporation is in need of urgent financial and infrastructure support.
Tuenkar said he can relate to the issues the regular passengers of KTC buses have as well as the grievances of the KTC conductors and drivers.
He said there is a shortage of buses. “Dealing with current old buses we proposed them to get new ones. Similarly there is an issue of shortage of conductors and drivers and getting new ones,” said Tuenkar. Defending the cost of bus tickets due to the rising price of diesel, he urged the public to to bring to his notice any specific grievances with the buses or bus stands.
