PERNEM: Goa Kul Mundkar Samiti has threatened to hold statewide agitations if the government doesn’t withdraw the agricultural land bill which was recently passed in the State assembly. The association had organised a protest at the Mahatma Gandhi garden at Pernem on Thursday where Dipesh Naik, Santosh Mandrekar, Rajan Korgaonkar, Swapnil Sherlekar, Narayan Gadekar, Arambol former sarpanch Daniel De Souza and others joined in solidarity support.

The protest began after garlanding the statue of Mahatma Gandhi and protestors demanded that both the Pernem MLAs make their stance clear on the issue.
Protestors questioned Agriculture Minister Ravi Naik for not opposing the bill despite being a member of the Bhandari Samaj.
They also questioned why the farmers were not taken into confidence and wondered if the opposition leaders ever cared for the farmers.
“This bill is not beneficial for Kul Mundkar. This is to benefit the land mafia and instead of implementing the simple law, brought by Bhausaheb Bandodkar the government is trying to grab the land from the Mundkars,” said Arambol former sarpanch Daniel Desouza.
