Calangute: The Goa Coastal Zone Management Authority (GCZMA) will be holding a site inspection on Friday following a complaint by the Calangute Constituency Forum (CCF) that there has been violation of the CRZ notification in a water resources department (WRD) project at the Candolim ‘bundh’ next to the Nerul river.

The CCF had lodged a complaint with the GCZMA in December but after the GCZMA failed to take any action, the CCF had filed a petition with the High Court of Bombay at Goa which passed an order on Tuesday directing the GCZMA to conduct a site inspection.

During the hearing of the matter in the high court, the GCZMA submitted that the site inspection would be conducted on April 28 at 3 pm.

The court order stated thus: “If the GCZMA finds any prima facie breaches of the CRZ notification, then, it is expected that the GCZMA issues necessary directions so that the prima facie breaches do not continue. Further, we direct the Goa State Bio Diversity Board to also depute its officials to attend this inspection on the above date and time.”

“The Goa State Biodiversity Board must prepare necessary report along with its comments, observations and directions and submit the same to the GCZMA, Collector and other concerned authorities. A copy of this report must also be supplied to the petitioner,” the HC order further stated.
