VASCO: People, mostly senior citizens, who came to attend the land acquisition hearing on the rail double tracking at Mormugao Deputy Collector’s office on Wednesday, were disappointed after receiving the news that the same was adjourned to April 12.
According to sources, the Deputy Collector was at an official meeting and the people received the adjournment news late. This annoyed the applicants who assembled with their lawyers.
With none of the railway officials present for the hearing, the lawyers claimed that these officers knew well in advance that the hearing would not take place.
Most applicants, who were senior citizens, were not happy and claimed that the staffers refused to register their phone numbers and did not give their phone numbers to the applicants for future correspondence.
