PANJIM: Goa Industrial Development Corporation (IDC) has decided to undertake a survey of all 22 industrial estates in the state to identify land up to 40 per cent, in each estate, for setting up projects, approved by Investment Promotion Board (IPB).
The IDC Board that met on Tuesday under Industries Minister Vishwajit Rane also resolved that rain water harvesting would be made mandatory while allotting new industrial plots in the future.
Speaking to media persons after the meeting, Rane said that during the recently held IPB board meeting, chaired by Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant, it was decided to synchronize IPB with IDC. “As per regulations, the land allotment share is 60:40 of IDC and IPB. However, IDC gets only 40 per cent after exclusion of road, open spaces, etc for allotment,” he explained.
“Now, we have decided to conduct a survey and identify land up to 40 per cent in each industrial estate and through government intimate IPB,” Rane said.
The Minister, who is also member of the IPB, said that currently IPB is approving projects without taking IDC into confidence on land availability. There are total 22 industrial estates operational in the State.
IDC chairman Glen Ticlo said IDC should be given freedom to decide about its plot for setting up units or industrial clusters. “We will now conduct a detailed survey and identify land in each industrial estate so that IPB can approve projects based on the land availability only,” he said.
“IPB has powers to decide on around 35 per cent of the land that is under them. But as far as IDC land is concerned, we will decide on the land availability,” Ticlo said.
IDC has decided to rope in a consultant to advise the Corporation on the way forward.
