Landslide at Ponda poses threat

Incessant rains since last the few days have caused a landslide along the highway at Conem-Priol in Ponda taluka, posing a threat to motorists.
A signboard warning commuters of the falling rocks has been installed near the site.
The area has several such dangerous spots and a few years ago, a similar landslide was reported a few metres from the spot.
It may be recalled that in 2008, the PWD had constructed a retaining wall at Conem after the hillock gave away possibly due to heavy rains.
