Launch owners express concerns over passenger insurance

The Mormugao Port Passenger Boat and Launch Owners Association has raised concerns over a recent circular issued by the Central government, which mandates insurance coverage for every passenger. In a joint meeting conducted by the Captain of Ports, launch owners, along with port shipping agents, stevedores, and shippers, voiced their apprehensions regarding the new requirement.

Launch owners present at the meeting argued that the circular imposes an additional burden on their operations. They emphasized that their primary role is ferrying passengers to ships anchored off the port and that the mandatory insurance coverage places a financial strain on their businesses.
