MARGAO: With heavy rains lashing the State, flow of leachate from the garbage dump site into the drains at Sonsoddo has added to the problems of the locality.
Meanwhile, there are no takers for the tender for covering the garbage dump site which has been floated by the Margao municipality for the fourth time.
The deadline for the tender ended on Friday without receiving any quotation.
The municipal engineer confirmed that no one send quotation for the tender.
He said that the issue would now be taken up with the Chief Officer and further steps would be taken.
Sources say that if no one comes forward to accept the tender, the municipality itself plans to execute the work of covering the dump.
Meanwhile, since the garbage dump is open, heavy rains have caused flow of leachate through the residential areas. The flow of leachate is polluting the groundwater.
