PONDA: The swimming pool at the Ponda Sports Complex is running dry since July 27 due to a leakage in tank which, even two months later, the officials are struggling to identify.
The parents and sports lover blamed the authorities for neglecting the swimming pool for the past few years. The contractor now is carrying out excavation around the pool to find out whether there is any problem in drainage pipes.
On September 5, the authorities and the contractor had promised the Ponda MLA, Ravi Naik, and swimming lovers to find and fix the leakage and make the pool available for swimming within a month. Since then the contractor has been feverishly searching for the fault without success.
When contacted the authorities responsible for the pool, they admitted that the technical teams, engineers and contractor are struggling to find out the cause of fault due to which water disappears.
The parents are now disappointed as their children couldn’t practise swimming. This has forced hundreds of children either to cancel their swimming lessons or travel to other parts in Goa to continue the same.
