PANJIM: Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar has pitched for 50 working days of Assembly in 2013 and sought that the Goa Legislators Forum takes up more pressing issues than just pursue issues about their pensions.
“This forum is not about filling one’s pockets or raising issues of pension hike. You must take up pressing issues,” Parrikar suggested.
“Today, there are many educated MLAs but people are losing respect for the legislature. Can the Legislators forum act as a focal point of training legislators,” Parrikar said adding that MLAs don’t know what issues to take up in the Assembly and that MLAs are more focussed on beautification works rather than legislation and the executive engineers are doing no work, and yet get paid.
He said that the Legislators Forum should be a forum of idea exchange and take up issues such as alcoholism and the effects of tourism.
