PANJIM, JULY 28
Dayanand Narvekar on Wednesday said that legislators need staff as they do various roles besides just public representatives. The former minister also said that the legislative department is neglected.
“Considering the educational qualities (qualifications) of MLAs, they do require secretarial services. It is a must for their functioning as at times, these legislators chair PACs and head various responsible positions,” said the former minister on the floor of the House.
He raised the requirement of hostel facilities for MLAs and suggested that the land across the Legislative Assembly at Porvorim could be utilised for the construction.
The Aldona MLA also said the Assembly would celebrate golden jubilee year in 2011, therefore no case of neglect should be reported. The speaker also echoed his concern for the hostel.
