PANJIM: Goan women applying for Griha Aadhar scheme should compulsorily produce life certificates at regular intervals to prevent fraud, as it happened under the Dayanand Social Security Scheme, Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar said Friday, while disbursing sanction letters to housewives, at the Institute of Menezes Braganza Hall in Panjim.
Separate functions were organised at taluka capitals ~Panjim, Mapusa, Bicholim and Ponda wherein 7,770 beneficiaries were given sanction letters. The government has received 28,450 applications till date of which the department of women and child welfare scrutinized 12,000 applications. Other forms are being verified even as forms continue pouring in every day.
The BJP-led government launched the scheme last October to support housewives amid spiralling prices.
Under the scheme married women, divorcees or widows will be provided Rs 1,000 per month, whose gross family income is less than Rs 3 lakh. While life certificate is a mandatory document to be submitted to the government in October each year, income certificate and other documents are also required for availing benefit under the scheme.
