Lobo, Vijai, Rohan hit BJP for a six during cricket tournament

Lobo says it is an open secret that drugs are being sold in Goa allegedly in connivance with the police; Asserts BJP needs youth leaders like Rohan Khaunte, Vijai Sardesai and Naresh Sawal

PORVORIM: A cricket tournament in Saloi in Bardez on Sunday turned out to be an event to strike at the BJP government, with Calangute MLA Michael Lobo along with independent MLAs Rohan Khaunte and Vijay Sardessai faulting the government on various issues.
Speaking during the prize distribution function of Abhar Cricket Tournament at Saloi in the presence of Independent MLAs Rohan Khaunte, Vijay Sardessai and Naresh Sawal, Lobo complained about the deterioration of law and order in the State.
“Law and order in the State has deteriorated and Goa has been getting a bad name because of the drug menace. In the recent past, some officials of the police department were found involved in the sale of drugs. It is an open secret that drugs are being sold in Goa allegedly in connivance with the police,” Lobo stated.
“Recently, two police constables mercilessly beat up a youth from Calangute. Police may have suspended them, but I will see that one of these constables is dismissed from service. My paper work is going on,” Lobo added.
Insisting that the BJP high command should not allow anybody to interfere in the functioning of their MLAs, Lobo said they should be given a free hand. “BJP needs youth leaders like Rohan Khaunte, Vijay Sardessai and Naresh Sawal. I will endeavour to convince BJP high command to pursue these independent MLAs to join the BJP,” said Lobo.
“Every village needs to have a good playground and it is the responsibility of the State government to provide good sports infrastructure to the youth to showcase their talents,” he said.
Fatorda MLA Vijay Sardessai said the delimitation of the villages and conducting ZP elections on party lines has been done by the BJP government basically to get their candidates elected.
“This is a mid-term assessment for the BJP. The BJP is not interested in true assessment. The people of Goa should get united and teach BJP a lesson by defeating their candidates,” said Sardessai.
Porvorim MLA Rohan Khaunte said the financial position of the State government is not good at the moment, due to which there has been a slowdown in developmental activities in the State.
