local residents and tourism stakeholders have called on the authorities to repair and replace the faulty streetlight on these roads in these areas.
Residents complained that key stretches such as Per Seraulim to Colva, Khareband to Benaulim have a series of non functioning streetlights and that the same needs to be addressed immediately.
The recent bout of rains have made it all the more dangerous at night especially for tho wheelers who are often blinded by the headlights of vehicles moving in the opposite direction.
While the issue for tourism stakeholders is located in areas of Benaulim and the coastal belt of Nuvem and Cortalim constituency, other places in Salcete and South Goa have also suffered from such faulty streetlights
The same has been raised in particular in almost all gram sabhas in Salcete and there have been several cases where locals from these pancahyat areas have had to gherao the electricity department just to see that their electricity woes are addressed.
Besides the faulty streetlights, locals have also complained over the constant power fluctuations and the lengthy periods of power outages and how they have to sleep in the heat with no electricity and how many of their electrical appliances have been damaged due to inconsistent voltage levels across villages.
